Vanguard has announced that it is promoting Sean Hagerty, principal and global head of its portfolio review department, to head of Europe.
Vanguard has more than $116bn assets under management in Europe.
Hagerty replaces John James who is moving to the US to become head of the firm’s human resources division.
Head of Vanguard’s international business James Norris says Hagerty is a “veteran” within the firm and has experience in sales, marketing, strategy, product development, and investment manager oversight.
Norris thanked James who helped the firm release its first active fund product in Europe and its Target Retirement Fund range in the UK.
“Despite the uncertain market conditions, investors continue to entrust us with their assets as we successfully export our proposition across Europe as a low-cost, high-value provider of investments and services.”
Hagerty will transition from his current position into the new role.
He has worked at Vanguard for 20 years, serving as head of corporate strategy and principal of retail marketing and communications.
