Standard Life Investments has launched a team and chief executive in Singapore as it focuses on real estate fund management and wholesale distribution in Asia Pacific.
Choon Wah Wong will become chief executive of Standard Life Investments Singapore and will also be responsible for building a real estate fund management and manufacturing platform in Asia Pacific.
Also in the four-strong team are deputy fund manager Ted Roy, who is relocating from Edinburgh, Asia wholesale sales director Jason Lam, and head of Asia Pacific real estate finance and operations Tervinder Chal.
Standard Life Investments already has a strong presence among institutional investors and private banks, but Lam will push for wholesale distribution opportunities across Asia.
In a further boost to the firm’s Asia Pacific presence, emerging market debt fund manager Mark Baker has moved from London to Hong Kong.
SLI chief executive Rod Paris says: “Building presence on the ground in Singapore allows us to be closer to investors and gain deeper insight into regional markets.”
