Schroders has appointed John Spedding to its new head of investment trusts role within its UK intermediary business.

Spedding has worked at Schroders, which currently manages £2.73bn across nine investment trusts, for 20 years, mostly recently as head of asset management secretariat. He has 27 years’ experience working with investment trusts.

In his new role he will be responsible for the overall strategy of the investment trust business, as well as oversight of its relationships with shareholders, clients and other key stakeholders, and the development of new opportunities.

Spedding will take up the role in Q3 and will report to managing director for UK intermediary Robin Stoakley. He will work alongside client director Jan Kingzett and Stephanie Carbonneil, investment trust business development manager.

Schroders is currently in the process of finding Spedding’s replacement for his former role.
