Rathbones provides personalised discretionary investment management and portfolio services for private clients, charities and professional advisers.
With more than 800 staff in 14 UK locations, the firm invests across a range of assets including fixed interest, equities, property, commodities, cash and alternatives. It also offers a selection of equity, multi-asset and bond funds managed by Rathbone Unit Trust Management and a specialist team led by David Coombs.
In April 2014, Rathbone announced it has agreed separate deals worth a combined £57.4m to buy Jupiter’s private client business and Tilney Investment Management’s London private arm. The deal is expected to boost Rathbones’ fund under management by approximately 12.3 per cent to £25.6bn.
According to the firm’s latest results, total funds under management rose to £22.8bn during the first quarter of 2014; up 3.6 per cent from the £22.0bn posted at the end of last year. Meanwhile, its unit trust business had increased by 16.7 per cent over the quarter following a £222m inflow, taking funds under management from £1.8bn to £2.1bn.
The group also announced that it has extended its range of advisory services further through the purchase of law firm Rooper & Whately at the start of May 2014.
