In this newly created role, Merrens will be responsible for building the firm’s private office offering as well as being part of the client-facing team. She will report to the head of Rathbone Private Office Andrew Clark.

At Kleinwort Benson, where she spent nine years, Merrens was head of strategic wealth advisory and most recently head of the investment solutions group.

Before joining the wealth manager, Merrens was at UBS Wealth Management where she worked as an investment consultant for five years.

She began her career as an FX trader at Lehman Brothers before taking on a similar role at Citibank for six years.

Rathbone chief executive Philip Howell says: “We are delighted to have attracted someone with Natalie’s credentials and proven track record in the super-high-net-worth market.

“We are very pleased that she has chosen to join our team as we extend Rathbones’ presence in this important segment of the market.”
