Podcast: Is a global recession really on the horizon?

The start of 2016 has seen markets recording their worst weeks for many years, leading many to question whether these setbacks will lead to a global economic recession.

Investment reporter Valentina Romeo speaks to M&G Episode Income fund manager Stephen Andrew and Axa Wealth head of investing Adrian Lowcock to understand why a recession isn’t likely to happen anytime soon.

As Andrew says there is not “exhaustive analysis” to prove we are heading towards a recession and despite the US not growing at a fast pace, economic data from the Federal Reserve proves the country is not on the brink of a crisis.

Looking east, although China’s slowdown remains a worry for many economies, Lowcock argues that one risk alone will not lead to a recession, especially in the UK.
