OMGI hires head of responsible investment from Newton

Old Mutual Global Investors has appointed Freddie Woolfe from Newton Investment Management as head of responsible investment and stewardship. Woolfe will work with the firm’s fund management teams, providing guidance on corporate governance and stewardship related issues to the senior management team and reporting into head of UK equities Richard Buxton.

Cavendish brings Investec stock broker in-house

Cavendish Asset Management has swiped its Investec Wealth & Investment stock broker for an in-house role to ensure best practice for trade execution ahead of Mifid II. Nick Burchett has worked with Cavendish UK equities fund manager Paul Mumford for two decades as head of dealing for Investec. He now becomes Cavendish’s manager of UK equities.

M&G confirms double departure of veteran equity managers

M&G has confirmed two departures from its equity investment team with replacements to be announced in due course. Richard Hughes will retire in March next year after a 31-year career with M&G, while Global Leaders fund manager Aled Smith will leave the firm in April.

RLAM makes double hire as Mitchell retires

Royal London Asset Management has boosted its UK equity team by two as veteran fund manager Derek Mitchell retires. Following Mitchell’s departure, Lowson and assistant fund manager Henry Burrell, who joins RLAM from Smith & Williamson, will run the UK Mid Cap Growth fund.

Kames boosts multi-asset team with double appointment

Kames Capital has added two managers to its multi-asset team as it leverages expertise from Aegon Asset Management. Jacob Vijverberg has been appointed co-manager of the UK domiciled Kames Diversified Monthly Income fund and Robert-Jan van der Mark has joined current manager Colin Dryburgh as co-manager of the UK domiciled Kames Diversified Growth fund.

AJ Bell looks to Brown Shipley for investment hires

AJ Bell has hired Kevin Doran as its chief investment officer and Matthew Brennan as fixed income fund manager as it eyes further fund launches. Doran was chief investment officer at Brown Shipley and more recently the group head of research and strategy at its parent company KBL European Private Banking. Matthew Brennan was Brown Shipley Private Bank senior fund manager and head of fixed income research.

Architas hires investment manager from Russell Investments

Architas has hired Mayank Markanday as an investment manager and as deputy portfolio manager on the Multi-Asset Blended range. Markanday will also co-manage a number of portfolios and lead the fixed income arm of the alternatives sector, which includes asset-backed securities.
