Man GLG has launched a long-short fund focussed on companies and sectors undergoing change or innovation.
The $450m Man GLG Innovation Equity Alternative fund will be managed by Priya Kodeeswaran, who developed the approach over five years while he was a partner at Cheyne Capital, which he left in 2009.
Over six years at RWC Partners he managed the Global Innovation strategy. Upon Kodeeswaran’s departure in early 2016, RWC converted the fund into a Ucits version of its Asia long/short equity strategy.
Kodeeswaran says: “In an investment landscape characterised by rapid innovation and change, I believe this strategy can deliver attractive returns for investors. We seek to do this through identifying alpha opportunities created by the dislocations between a company’s share price and its prospects.”
