Lombard Odier nabs UBS veteran as distribution head

Lombard Odier Investment Managers has appointed Martin Thommen as head of third-party distribution for Europe, a newly created role.

Thommen, who will cover the UK as part of his new role, joins from UBS Asset Management where he was head of wealth management and personal banking distribution.

He had been at UBS for 30 years, including a period in third party distribution.

Thommen, who will be based in Zurich and will help build Lombard Odier’s third party distribution across Europe, was president of the Swiss Funds & Asset Management Association from 2009 to 2014.

Thommen will report to Carolina Minio-Paluello, global head of sales and solutions.

Minio-Paluello says: “In the last 12 months, we have re-positioned our sales and marketing effort to offer our clients a more customised solutions based approach.

“In doing so, we have been investing in our solutions and distribution teams to build our capabilities in core markets and better service our clients.”
