Liontrust has hired Oisín O’Leary to join the European income team with Olly Russ, who he used to work with at Argonaut Capital Partners.
O’Leary joined the specialist fund management group yesterday and will become assistant fund manager supporting Russ on the Liontrust European Income and Liontrust European Enhanced Income funds.
The latter is the highest yielding in the IA Europe ex-UK sector with an historic yield of 4.5 per cent.
The Liontrust European Income fund has delivered 3.7 per cent, making it third in the sector.
Russ says having worked with O’Leary previously he feels confident with his experience in the European income process.
“In this ongoing low interest rate environment, investors will have to look further afield than the UK in their hunt for income, and Europe’s deep pool of companies with attractive free cash flow are increasingly focused on returning capital to shareholders via dividends and special dividends.”
O’Leary says he is looking forward to joining the “distinct culture and approach to running money” at Liontrust as the European economy strengthens further.
“Investors are increasingly turning their attention to Europe and its exceptional income-generating companies. I am excited about helping to explore the opportunities presented as the European economy strengthens further.”
O’Leary has previously worked as an investment analyst at Maris Capital, and a debt capital markets analyst at HSBC.
