Legg Mason’s head of UK sales Adam Gent is to join Allianz Global Investors as head of retail wholesale, Northern Europe, a new role set up by the business.
Gent, who departs Legg Mason after nine years, will begin his new role in March 2017.
He will be responsible for the development of AllianzGI’s retail business in the UK, Nordics and Benelux. Gent will report to the firm’s head of retail Europe Mathias Mueller.
A spokesman at AllianzGI says: “This is a natural step, to have someone take the lead in these regions as we grow the business.”
Mueller adds: “We are delighted to announce Adam will be joining AllianzGI’s European sales team in this senior, new position. This role is a natural step in the evolution of our regional sales business, as we look to become the investment partner of choice of more and more clients in these key regions. The wealth of experience Adam brings will help us do just that.”
Gent was head of UK sales at Legg Mason since 2010 after joining the company in 2007 as director of business development. He was previously at Henderson Global Investors. Prior to that he worked as a private client manager at Thesis Asset Management.
Legg Mason head of European sales and client service Justin Eede will temporary take on Gent’s responsibilities while the firm looks for a replacement.
Ede says: “We would like to thank Adam for his contribution to Legg Mason’s UK growth and wish him every success for the future.”
