Jupiter has appointed Alejandro Arevalo as an emerging market debt fund manager.
The group says it is focusing more on emerging market debt as a natural progression from expanding its fixed income team, and is looking to add to its product range in this area.
Arevalo, who joins Jupiter later this year, was previously at Pioneer Investments where he was an emerging markets corporate debt portfolio manager for four years. Arevalo has also held roles at Standard Bank Asset Management, Gibraltar Bank and the International Bank of Miami.
Stephen Pearson, CIO at Jupiter, says: “We have steadily built out our fixed income team in recent years and have been keen to develop our emerging market debt capabilities as part of this expansion.
“Our unconstrained bond strategy managed by Ariel Bezalel has been increasing exposure to this asset class and we believe Alejandro’s track record, investment process and flexible approach will add significantly to our expertise in this area as we look to broaden our fixed income product suite.”
Arevalo adds: “Jupiter has a growing reputation in the fixed income space and a strategic commitment to building out its dedicated emerging market debt business. I’m really excited to be joining the team to spearhead this drive.”
