Tilney Bestinvest has hired David Cummins as a financial planning director based at the firm’s new Maidstone office.
Formerly an East Malling-based senior adviser at European Wealth, he has also worked at St James’s Place and Halifax Bank of Scotland.
European Wealth reverse listed onto the Aim market in April and recently bought Surrey IFA firm Compass Financial Benefits.
Tilney Bestinvest financial planning managing director Richard Dawes says Cummins is “hugely experienced” and has advised families in Kent for many years.
“[He] will spearhead the growth of our financial planning business in Kent,” Dawes says.
“The radical shake-up of pensions being introduced next year means there has never been a more important time for people to seek high quality, professional advice on their financial plans and that underpins our ambitious goal to double the size of our financial planning team over the coming months.”
Tilney, Deutsche Bank’s regional UK wealth management business, and Bestinvest were bought by private equity firm Permira this year.
It has since merged the two and gone on a hiring drive.
