Threadneedle adds strategist to growing multi-asset team

Threadneedle Investments has added a strategist to its multi asset team.

Maya Bhandari joined Threadneedle in mid-August as an investment strategist for the multi-asset allocation team.

Bhandari was director of global macro strategy and asset allocation at Citigroup. Before that, she worked for Lombard Street as head of emerging market analysis.

Threadneedle multi-asset allocation head Toby Nangle says Bhandari’s skill will help the team, which is working in an increasingly popular strategy.

“She has a strong track record in calling markets and economic developments ahead of the pack and her appointment will strengthen further Threadneedle’s excellence in active asset allocation,” he says.

“Maya’s insights will help us tackle the challenges facing today’s investors and deliver solutions in an area of increasing demand.”

About 40 per cent of Threadneedle’s assets under management are held in different forms of asset allocation mandates, he adds.

To capitalise on the expected torrent of retirees eschewing annuities for multi-asset income funds, Threadneedle launched a retail strategy in July.

The firm recently hired Craig Nowrie, formerly of Aon Hewitt, as a client portfolio manager on the multi-asset allocation team.
