Polar Capital appoints ex-Threadneedle manager Davis for European income strategy

Polar Capital has hired former Threadneedle Investment Nick Davis to build a European income team.

The first fund in the pipeline is a pan European income fund that Capital hopes to launch in the final quarter of this year.

Davis ran the £603m Threadneedle European fund and the £91m Threadneedle Pan European Equity Dividend fund. He had been deputy on David Dudding’s £2.2bn Threadneedle European Select fund as well.

Before his time at Threadneedle, Davis worked at Sanford Bernstein, Deloitte and Arthur Anderson. He is a graduate of Durham University and a CFA Charterholder.

Polar Capital chief executive Tim Woolley says hiring Davis is part of the firm’s strategy to expand the number of specialist investment teams.

“Nick joins us to build the European Income franchise and his appointment demonstrates our further commitment to growing the number of investment teams within Polar Capital,” he explains.

“Nick has considerable experience in investing in Pan European equities and we look forward to him developing this franchise for us over the coming years.”
