BlackRock’s Richard Plackett will return to the firm in October after his sabbatical and step back from the £331m BlackRock Throgmorton trust but will return to co-manage the £1.6bn BlackRock UK Special Situations fund.
Plackett left to take a six-month sabbatical in April but will return as part of the BlackRock UK small and mid cap team, relinquishing his role as head of the division.
Ralph Cox, will remain responsible for contracts for difference management on the Throgmorton trust whilst Roland Arnold will co-manage the Special Situations fund alongside Plackett.
Mike Prentis will retain management of the long only element of the Throgmorton trust.
BlackRock says: ”Richard Plackett, formerly manager of the company’s CFD portfolio, which represented approximately 27 per cent of the company’s net assets as at 31 August, will return to BlackRock from sabbatical leave on 7 October 2014. On his return Richard will step down as lead manager of the company’s CFD portfolio but will remain a member of BlackRock’s UK mid and small cap equity team with a particular focus on stockpicking.
”Following discussion with Richard, he has expressed his desire to concentrate on stock picking and portfolio management. On his return therefore, he will concentrate his efforts on his role as co-manager of the flagship BlackRock UK Special Situations fund, alongside Roland Arnold. He wishes to relinquish his role as head of the team and leadership of the team’s long /short strategies.”
