Barclays Wealth appoints new chief exec

Barclays Wealth and Investment Management has appointed InfraHedge founder Akshaya Bhargava as chief executive.

Bhargava will join Barclays on 13 October. He previously spent 22 years at Citibank leading teams in London, India and the Czech Republic.

InfraHedge is a hedge fund platform acquired by State Street in 2010.

This is an exciting time to be joining Barclays and I feel privileged to be taking charge of the next chapter in the growth and evolution of the business.”

Earlier today technology firm Novastone appointed Barlcays Wealth managing director Andrew Hodson as its new director.
