Axa Investment Managers has made two high-level hires to its fixed income team.
Bill Healey joins from JP Morgan Asset Management as global head of smart beta and UK head of buy and maintain strategies.
Philip Roantree, former fund analyst for Morningstar and bond manager at New Star, joins as a senior fixed income portfolio manager.
Axa IM head of fixed income Chris Iggo says both men are experienced in the asset class.
“Axa IM has a long track record running buy and maintain strategies: Managing portfolios which focus on long term value creation with limited turnover,” he says.
“We are seeing increased demand from clients for such strategies, in part as a result of higher transaction costs.”
Healey has worked in fixed income for more than three decades, his last job at JP Morgan was head of European high yield debt, which he held for three years. He has worked around the world, and ran his own credit hedge fund firm, Picus Capital Management, between 2003 and 2011.
Roantree is a tested bond manager, running money for Prolific and then for Aberdeen following the 1997 takeover. His bond fund was sold to New Star Asset Management in 2003.
In 2009 he spent three years as a partner and chief investment officer at Querns Asset Managers before moving to Morningstar.
