BlackRock has named Russ Koesterich as Bob Doll’s successor as global chief investment strategist.

Koesterich – who is also global chief investment strategist for iShares – was previously global head of investment strategy for active equities and a senior portfolio manager in its US market neutral group.

He joined BlackRock in 2005 from State Street, where he was chief North American strategist.

Bob Doll says: “I’ve had many opportunities to work with Russ and I have found his opinions and ideas to be insightful and thought-provoking.”

Doll announced his retirement in June, after more than 30 years at BlackRock, to devote more time to his “family, faith and philanthropic interests”.
