Statement 2011: Plan A has failed, says Balls

Shadow chancellor Ed Balls says George Osborne’s plans are a colossal failure, highlighting higher levels of borrowing.

After the chancellor’s autumn statement, his opposite number says the so-called “Plan A” has failed.

Ed Balls (pictured) taunted the chancellor over earlier predictions of growth of 2.3% predicted for this year.

He says the chancellor would need to borrow £158 billion to shore up the economy.
