Regulator warns on “investment professional” ISA ads

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has warned fund management firms on adverts aimed at “investment professionals”.

The regulator says it is not always clear when adverts are aimed at investment professionals.

“Firms wanting to communicate a promotion to investment professionals should be clear about to whom a promotion is directed and on what basis,” writes the FSA.

Advertising of this kind needs to be fair clear and not misleading, clearly stating its intended audience and effectively targeted through an appropriate publication or medium, according to the regulator.
