Gam has launched an emerging markets equity fund for recent hires Tim Love and Joaquim Nogueira.
The GAM Star Emerging Equity fund will have a portfolio of between 100 and 150 stocks, chosen using a fundamental valuation-based approach which mixes proprietary bottom-up tools with top-down thematic overlay and timing strategies.
Love and Nogueira joined the asset manager in December, having previously been at CQS where they ran a long/short emerging market equities portfolio. Love is the investment director with responsibility for emerging market equity strategies, while Nogueira is a manager in the emerging market equity team.
“The co-managers believe that the cyclical and structural characteristics inherent in emerging markets globally create a long-term risk/return profile that is superior to developed markets,” according to Gam.
“Moreover, the timing for investing in emerging markets equities is ideal due to the deep discounts that many companies are currently trading at versus their historical highs and versus their developed market counterparts.”
The GAM Star Emerging Equity fund has a minimum investment of $10,000 or currency equivalent, with an annual management charge of 1.5% for retail investors.
