BlackRock’s Alex Hoctor-Duncan has been named head of retail for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
Maarten Slendebroek who was responsible for international retail is leaving BlackRock in April after helping with the transition.
Hoctor-Duncan’s promotion to the newly-created job from his head of sales for EMEA role will see him report to Rob Fairbairn, head of the global client group, and James Charrington, chairman of the EMEA Region.
He will also report into BlackRock’s EMEA and global client group executive committees.
Rob Fairbairn says: “Since joining BlackRock in 1997, Alex has held a wide variety of roles within retail, giving him a deep knowledge of how best to serve our clients.
“Alex’s goal is to continue growing the retail business within EMEA, where we have the second largest international cross-border business as measured by assets under management.”
Following Maarten Slendebroek’s departure, Mark McCombe, chairman of Asia Pacific, will oversee retail business in that region.
In Latin America and Iberia, Armando Senra, deputy head of the Latin America and Iberia region, will oversee retail business.
