Canada Life Investments has promoted David Marchant to its chief investment officer after the previous holder of the role took up another position in Canada.
Marchant, who was previously head of securities for the asset manager, will take on responsibility for overseeing all investment functions, including fixed income, equities, real estate and commercial mortgages, as well as distribution and investment services.
His appointment as CIO and managing director is subject to regulatory approval.
He replaces former CIO Rob Ritchie, who is returning to Canada become executive vice-president of Canada Life Wealth Management.
Canada Life UK chief executive Ian Gilmour says: “I am delighted that David will be taking over the reins as CIO and managing director to build on the growth strategy put in place at Canada Life Investments over the past five years under the leadership of Rob Ritchie.
“This is an exciting time for Canada Life Investments and more than ever we are committed to build upon our investment strategies and skills to create good investment opportunities for our clients.”
