Aviva Investors has appointed Abigail Herron as head of engagement in its global responsible investment team.

Heron joins from Co-operative Asset Management where she headed-up its corporate governance function, leading engagement, analysis and policy across environmental, social and governance issues.

At Aviva Investors, Heron will develop strategy for the firm’s engagement covering all relevant asset classes across equity, fixed income, sovereign debt, property, private equity and multi manager portfolios.

She reports to Steve Waygood, the chief responsible investment officer.

Waygood says: “Abigail brings with her a very strong track record in developing and implementing engagement programmes at the highest level and this background will help build on our achievements so far as we continue to apply our commitment to responsible investment and engagement across the whole scope of our business.”

Herron also sits on the UKSIF Leadership Committee, the FTSE4Good Banking Sector Working Group and the Travis Perkins Non-Executive Environmental Advisory Forum.
