Aviva Investors has appointed Liam Spillane to the role of emerging market debt currency portfolio manager.
Before coming to Aviva Investors, Spillane worked as currency manager at Overlay Asset Management, part of BNP Paribas Investment Partners. Prior to this, he was also a currency manager at BNP Paribas.
Spillane will join the emerging market debt team at Aviva Investors, reporting to head of global markets Daniel James.
As part of his new role, he will work across local currency mandates including the Aviva Investors Emerging Markets Local Currency Bond fund and the Aviva Investors II Emerging Markets Inflation Linked Bond fund.
The addition of Spillane to the emerging market team follows the announcement at the beginning of June that head of emerging markets Jerry Brewin was leaving the firm for ING Investment management.
James says: “We are delighted to welcome Liam to Aviva Investors. The depth of this experience in currency management will complement the team well as we take the development of ouremerging market debt capability to the next level.”
