Cofunds reveals most popular funds in Q4 2012

The Jupiter Merlin Income portfolio was the most popular fund on the Cofunds platform in the final quarter of 2012 as investors continued to flock to the Mixed Investments 20-60% shares sector.

The £4.1bn fund, which is managed by John Chatfeild-Roberts, topped the bestsellers list ahead of the £1.9bn Invesco Perpetual Distribution fund and the £3.2bn Newton Global Higher Income fund.

Other funds in the top 20 list included M&G Optimal Income fund, Cazenove MM Diversity and Liontrust Special Situations.

The Mixed Investments 20-60% shares sector continues to dominate sales on the platform, while the Sterling Strategic Bond sector was also popular in the final quarter of last year. Other popular sectors include the Global Equity Income and Global Emerging Markets sectors.

Cofunds head of fund group relations Michelle Woodburn says: ““The Mixed Investment 20-60% sector remains popular with advisers. However, it is not as concentrated as it was earlier in 2012. Bonds are also still in favour over equities, with UK, Global, Euro and Specialist Equity funds seeing the highest outflows whilst Strategic Bond funds have seen high inflows.”
