Fundweb readers are tipping the US to be the best performing region in 2015, with nearly a third of the 300-plus votes cast in the recent poll opting for Uncle Sam next year.
Taking second spot with some 14.9 per cent of the vote were global emerging markets. Despite flat overall market performance for the MSCI Emerging Markets index in 2014, sentiment has turned positive on the region this year after weak performance in 2012 and 2013.
Indeed, according to FE, nine out of the 10 best performing funds in 2014 were invested in India. Although caveating this five Russian funds sat in the top 10 of the worst performing funds, as did three eastern/emerging Europe funds reflecting how hard Russian equities have been hit by the fall in the rouble.
The UK and Japan were tied in third spot, while it was Asia ex Japan which was the region taking the least votes, with only 11.6 per cent of the poll predicting the region to perform the strongest next year.
