Ex-Swip fixed income CIO heads to Aviva Investors

Aviva Investors has hired Mark Connolly, formerly of Swip, as its fixed income chief investment officer.

Connelly had the same role at Scottish Widows Investment Partnership – now owned by Aberdeen Investment Management – and has been in the industry for 25 years.

Responsible for building Aviva’s global fixed income business, which oversees £160bn of assets, Connolly reports to Aviva Investors chief executive Euan Munro.

Aviva Investors France chief executive Jean-François Boulier, who was interim fixed income CIO following the departure of Shahid Khan a year ago, will step back from the fixed income role but remain CEO.

Munro says Connolly will look to improve the firm’s products by developing “outcome-orientated solutions” and enhancing the global investment platform.

“I am very pleased that Mark will be joining my executive team,” Munro says.

“He brings an invaluable combination of fixed income investment expertise and a successful track record of building cross-market teams which will be vital as we look to grow our fixed income capabilities.”

Connolly has worked in senior roles at BNY Mellon boutique Insight, Deutsche Asset Management and Standard Life Investments
