St James’s Place appoints AIC chair to new role

Wealth manager St James’s Place has announced that Association of Investment Companies (AIC) chairman Sarah Bates will take over as senior independent director.

Bates, who is currently a non-executive director, will replace Michael Sorkin, who is to retire at the beginning of 2012 after 10 years on the board.

She was appointed as a non-executive director of St James’s Place in September 2004 and is currently chair of the remuneration committee and a member of the investment and risk committees.
