Old Mutual, STD Life and Admiral Group are leading the gains this morning, up by 11.26%, 3.10% and 2.80%, respectively.
Xstrata and Lloyds Group have both also made modest gains, up 2.60% each.
Hargreaves Lansdown is leading the declines, down 0.85%. Smith and Nephew, Arm Holdings and supermarket chain Morrisons are following with falls of 0.43%, 0.27% and 0.22%, respectively.
The share price of Diageo has fallen by 0.11%.
