France more likely to be downgraded, finds poll readers have overwhelmingly voiced their opinion that France is more likely to have its credit rating downgraded than the UK.

More than 90% of readers believe France will lose its AAA rating compared with just 7.8% who were convinced the UK would be downgraded first.

The poll comes after comments by the Banque de France governor Christian Noyer last week claimed that the UK economy was in a much worse state than France’s.

Noyer said the UK had a greater deficit, “as much debt”, higher inflation and less growth than France.
