Threadneedle bolsters institutional marketing for the post-annuity age

Threadneedle Investments has hired Chris Wagstaff, formerly of Cass Business School, as head of institutional marketing.

Wagstaff was a client director at Cass Business School Executive Education, where he focused on designing, developing and delivering bespoke pension and investment programmes.

Threadneedle says Wagstaff will “further cement” its institutional presence by creating investment strategies and thought leadership for the post-annuities world.

Threadneedle head of institutional sales Dominik Kremer says Wagstaff has more than 30 years’ experience, most of it writing and speaking on investments and pensions.

“The fact that the institutional market is a key focus for Threadneedle is perhaps one of our best kept secrets,” Kremer says.

“We are the fourth-largest manager of UK retail assets, yet 67 per cent of our global investments and mandates across equities, fixed income, multi-asset and real estate are managed for institutional clients.”

In June, Threadneedle hired Craig Nowrie as a client portfolio manager for its multi-asset team. He left his job as a senior research consultant at Aon Hewitt to take the role.
