Polar Capital hires Rushton to spearhead UK absolute return venture

Polar Capital has hired former Legal & General Investment Management alternative specialist Guy Rushton to spearhead a brand new range of UK absolute return funds.

Rushton left LGIM earlier this year where he had previously managed the L&G UK Absolute, £30.4m UK Special Situations and £158.7m UK Active Opportunities funds.

The firm is planning to launch its first product in the absolute return space, to be named the UK Absolute Equity fund, with Rushton by the end of next month.

Polar Capital chief executive officer Tim Woolley says: “We are delighted that Guy is joining us to head up this new initiative in the alternative funds arena and his appointment demonstrates our commitment to developing this side of our business further in the years ahead.

“Guy is one of the rising talents in the UK alternative space and we look forward to him developing a significant franchise for us over the coming years.”
