The IMA Mixed Investment 20-60% Shares sector topped Cofunds’ sales ranking for the seventh month running in July, the latest figures show.

The sector, which has been a popular option for investors looking to spread risk, accounted for 205 per cent of net sales through the platform last month.

It was followed by the IMA Targeted Absolute Return, Property, Global Equity Income and North America sectors.

Cofunds head of commercial Graham Venn says: “The requirement of Mixed Investment 20-60% shares to hold a mix of equities, fixed income and cash make this a popular sector for investors who want to spread and manage risk.

“With investors remaining cautious it’s no surprise that this sector has remained at the top of the leaderboard for seven consecutive months.”

In terms of individual funds, Standard Life Investment’s Global Absolute Return Strategy was July’s bestselling product through Cofunds, followed by M&G Global Dividend, Invesco Perpetual Distribution, Newton Global Higher Income and Cazenove UK Opportunities.
