Baring Asset Management has hired Alliance Bernstein’s James Ross for its newly created director of investment process role.

Ross will join the asset management house on 2 September and will report to chief investment officer Marino Valensise.

The role involves developing, implementing and reviewing the investment process of Barings’ new products, such as the Baring Frontier Markets and Baring Emerging Market Corporate Debt funds, as well as overseeing the investment process for the firm’s existing products.

Before joining Barings, Ross was head of senior portfolio managers, global growth at Alliance Bernstein, a role he held since 2009. Prior to that, he was the firm’s European head of alternative investments and head of European value equities.

Valensise says: “We are delighted that James is joining us and his vast previous experience across both the buy-side and the sell-side makes him very well-placed to carry out this role successfully.”
