Austin McBride, the former head of UK wholesale at Ignis Asset Management, has joined Macquarie Investment Management in the same role.
McBride left Ignis when it was taken over by Standard Life Investments. He had been with the firm since 2008.
Macquarie, which has £178bn in assets under management, is looking to expand its presence in the UK and Europe.
“Building on the significant momentum [Macquarie] has in the EMEA market, Austin will focus on growing Macquarie’s presence with the professional buyer market in the UK and will complement our efforts in the UK institutional and consultant spaces,” said Steve Haswell, head of distribution for Macquarie Investment Management EMEA.
McBride says he is “looking forward to building a substantial and sustainable UK asset management business”.
“[Macquarie’s] specialist expertise across a range of income, growth and absolute return capabilities offers a compelling proposition for UK investors.” he adds.
Previously McBride worked at Lazard Asset Management, Janus and Henderson Global Investors.
