Pacific Investments is set to launch a new absolute return fund management business at the beginning of the second quarter this year.
The new business will focus on developing and growing absolute return strategies, which aim to offer investors returns uncorrelated with traditional asset classes.
Rod Barker, formerly a partner at International Standard Asset Management with Stanley Fink, the former chief executive of hedge fund manager Man Group, is joining the new venture as a partner and its chief executive officer. (article continues below)
Barker previously held various roles with River & Mercantile Asset Management, Thames River Capital, Liontrust, Europa Capital, Pacific Real Estate Capital Partners and Alpha Real Capital.
