American firm to enter British savings market

A spokesperson for the company said there would be a formal announcement in the next few months but declined to give any details other than that individual retirement savings products are to be launched.

The Connecticut-based company provides investment products to both institutional and private investors and had nearly $27bn of assets under management at September 30, 2004.

The team of over 80 investment professionals has an active management style with a total return focus. The company attaches significant importance to proprietary research and risk frameworks.

Hartford Investment Management is a subsidiary of the Hartford Financial Service Group that was founded in 1810 and employs some 30,000 employees. It provides investment, insurance and pension products and the vast majority of its business is carried out in America.
