The Investment Management Association (IMA) has no plans to directly replace Jarkko Syyrilä, who is leaving as its director of international relations, and will redistribute his responsibilities to the rest of its senior team.
Syyrilä takes over as deputy director general at the European Fund and Asset Management Association (Efama) today following his lobbying work with the European Union (EU) on the IMA’s behalf.
However, the IMA says the rest of its senior team is already heavily engaged in direct EU-level dialogue on their particular issues. (article continues below)
Julie Patterson, the director of authorised funds and tax, will take responsibility for co-ordination of the IMA’s efforts with the EU and in maintaining relationships.
Jane Lowe, the director for markets, will continue to focus on over-the-counter derivatives, while Liz Murrall, the director of corporate governance and reporting, will continue to focus on EU corporate governance initiatives. Guy Sears, the director of wholesale, will maintain responsibility for the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive review.
The IMA says it expects communications between the IMA and Efama to improve further following Syyrilä’s appointment.
