Scottish Widows Investment Partnership (Swip) has appointed a head of sustainability as pressure grows on asset managers to ensure good practice in the companies they invest in.
Craig Mackenzie has joined the firm from the University of Edinburgh Business School, where he was the director of its Centre for Business and Climate Change.
He had previously set up the school’s Centre for Ethics in Public Policy and Corporate Governance and had managed corporate governance and sustainability drives at Insight and Friends Ivory and Sime. (article continues below)
He also chairs the criteria committee for the FTSE4Good index.
He will join on November 1 and report to Andrew November, the director of equities at Swip.
On the retail side, Swip has a small presence in socially responsible investing through its Pan-European Equity SRI fund.
