Manager leaves M&G Technology

Cyrille Filott, co-manager of the M&G Global Technology fund, has left the group.
Richard O’Connor has taken over management of the vehicle temporarily while Aled Smith remains deputy manager.
Filott joined M&G’s global equity team in September 2005 from ING Investment Management where he ran a global communication technology portfolio. He took over management of the Global Tech offering in January of the same year.
Filott has also worked as a tech analyst for Robeco Asset Management.
O’Connor, the interim manager, joined M&G in 2003 and has managed a range of equity products for the group.
Global Technology is due to be merged into Greg Aldridge’s Global Growth fund on March 13, subject to shareholder approval. The remit of the technology vehicle includes companies whose use of technology gives them a competitive advantage in the market.
On Global Growth, formerly known as the International Growth fund, Aldridge tries to identify quality companies with the potential to grow.
The merger is designed to broaden the fund’s investment universe across the global equities spectrum, the group says. Global Growth’s investment style will not change with the merger.
The move follows the closure of several other high profile tech funds in recent years as funds in the out of favour sector have suffered dwindling assets.
