Chris Ralph and Jason Collins, joint founders of Maia Capital, were trapped in last week’s attacks in Mumbai, with Ralph having to barricade himself in the Taj Mahal Palace hotel.

Collins was not in the building at the time of the siege and was kept outside as police sought to control the situation.

The pair were meeting fund managers across Asia. India their last stop. Jonathan Polin, sales and marketing director at Ignis, which owns half of Maia, says: “It was a traumatic end to an otherwise beneficial research trip.”

Polin thanked Jasper Berens, head of UK sales at JP Morgan for an offer of help. “This speaks volumes for way our industry sticks together,” he adds.
