Resolution to open third fund boutique

Resolution Asset Management is to create its third specialist high alpha boutique after hiring three managers from Barings Asset Managements global emerging markets team.

John Payne, Stuart Richards and Marina Akopian will all join the group, which was rebranded from Britannic Asset Management last week, after working out their notice periods.

Richards, who managed the Baring Emerging Europe investment thrust is tied to a six-month notice. Payne, manager of the offshore Global Resources unit trust, and Akopian, manager if the recently launched EMEA Absolute Return hedge fund, will both join resolution in three months time.

Jonathan Polin, sales and marketing director at Resolution Asset management, says after their arrivals the group will launch three offshore funds, similar to those the trio already manage: a global resources long/short fund, an emerging Europe long-only portfolio and an EMEA absolute return fund.

Barings has already begun a recruitment process to replace the three managers.
