First State Investments is adding to its emerging markets range with a Latin America fund.
It will be managed by Jonathan Asante, who also runs the Global Emerging Market Leaders fund, and Millar Mathieson, with Alan Nesbit acting as deputy manager.
In a release, Asante says he realises it is a difficult time to launch a fund, but highlights his belief that there are long term opportunities in the region and relative value is starting to appear.
Investments will be spread across Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru and neighboring areas if the managers see buying opportunities.
The fund will sit in the First State ICVC, which is domiciled in the UK, and carries a minimum investment of £1,500 for retail investors.
