Trafalgar Capital Management has launched its first Ucits III regulated fund, the Trafalgar Quadrant fund.
The Irish-regulated long/short equity Oeic is managed by Chris Poll, an investment director at Trafalgar who started his investment career 22 years ago at Mercury Asset Management.
Soft-launched in June, the fund invests in British equities picked from the FTSE 350 with the focus primarily being on recovery situations, although it can also invest in select opportunities in Europe.
Josh Jacobson, a senior portfolio manager at Trafalgar, co-manages the fund, which has a minimum investment of £20,000. (article continues below)
Poll worked at Mercury Asset Management from 1987 to 1996, where he ran the IBM Pension fund and the Safeway Pension fund. In 1996 he joined ING Baring Asset Management where, among other roles, he headed the UK Equity team.
Since 2000 Poll has been involved in various non-executive and advisory roles to public and private equity companies, as well as continuing to run private investment portfolios. From 2006-2009 he acted as an investment consultant to Cheyne Capital.
