Wheb Ventures, a clean technology venture capital firm, has set up a sister asset management business and launched a Sustainability fund.
The company will be run by Clare Brook, a former Jupiter Ecology manager, and Nicola Donnelly, who has previously worked on CIS Sustainable Leaders Trust.
They will focus on three key themes in the fund – water, climate change and demographics – and invest in firms that provide solutions to problems such as water shortages, climate change and the ageing population.
Wheb says the launch is timely thanks to the $430 billion (£261 billion) committed by governments’ stimulus packages to green issues.
Brook says in a recent release: “I have been investing in environmental companies since 1990, but have never seen such an exciting combination of compelling valuations and actual change in legislation, which is driving profitability.”
