River and Mercantile (R&M) has hired Tomas Tomasson as a partner and analyst in its newly-formed global equities division.
Tomasson, a technology analyst, joins R&M from Lazard. He will report to Alex Stanic, who heads up the R&M global equities team.
Tomasson will join former colleague Alexei Kapkin, who starts at R&M later this month.
R&M says this is the final hire to be made into Stanic’s new team. Stanic joined R&M from Newton Investment Management, where he was head of global equities, in June.
The R&M global equities division will launch its first products early next month.
These will be the R&M Global Equity fund, designed to beat the FTSE All World index by 2% net of fees, and the R&M Global Opportunities fund, designed to beat the FTSE All World index by 4% net of fees.
