Simon Elliott of Wins Investment Trusts, part of the Close Brothers group, has withdrawn his resignation from the company and agreed to take on the role of head of research.
As reported in Fund Strategy (January 14), Elliott, along with Charles Cade (former head of research) and three of their colleagues, resigned from Wins to join Numis, a rival firm.
While Cade is still set to move after his 12-month gardening leave, the offer to head the Wins team succeeded in luring Elliott.
“The opportunity was too good to miss, really,” says Elliott. “Essentially I was offered the chance to head up one of the largest teams in the sector.”
Reports that Cade’s departure had dealt a huge blow to Wins were overblown, according to Elliott.
“The product I developed at Wins with Cade over five years is very good and the core of the business remains very much intact,” he says.
