Swip hires fixed income commercial director

Scottish Widows Investment Partnership (Swip) has hired Ian Clifton from Mercers to drive its bond fund business.

Clifton joins the group on November 1 from Mercers where he is a senior investment consultant advising clients on investment strategy, manager selection and performance monitoring.

He previously worked at WestLB and was latterly responsible for investment banking in Asia. (article continues below)

As fixed income commercial director he will report to Mark Connolly, the director of fixed income.

Connolly says: “His commercial awareness and deep understanding of the fixed income and derivative markets will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen and deepen our UK fixed income product offering and develop our use of derivatives across our bond portfolios.”

Swip launched a Strategic Bond fund in June for Robert Webb and Luke Hickmore.
